In a high-voltage encounter at the Eden Gardens on Sunday Ishan Kishan-led Jharkhand defeated Hyderabad in the Super Over. Ishan Kishan led from the front and smashed back-to-back sixes in the Super Over to help his team post 24 runs in 6 deliveries. Later, experienced left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem sealed the win for Jharkhand after scalping a wicket and restricting Hyderabad for 14.
Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Jharkhand restricted Hyderabad for 139/8. Pacer Vivekanad Tiwari struck twice in the second over to dismiss Pragnay Reddy and Tilak Verma. Captain Tanmay Agarwal (13) was the third one to depart before Sandeep (37) and Himalay Agarwal (26) joined hands to provide Hyderabad some reprieve.
Left-arm pacer Milind’s 5-ball 16 towards the end helped Hyderabad post a fighting total on the board.
Jharkhand started off in style as southpaws Ishan Kishan (27) and Utkarsh Singh (29) combined for a solid 43 runs for the first wickets but things started to fall apart soon after the dismissal of Kishan. Virat Singh threw away his wicket after facing 17 deliveries and then a well set Utkarsh also left. Before Jharkhand could completely lose the plot, all-rounders Kaushal Singh (24) and Ankul Roy (28*) joined forces to keep their team’s chances alive. Kaushal departed when Jharkhand’s scorecard read – 110/6. The scores got levelled after consecutive run-outs on the last and the second last balls of 20th over.
